A keynote your school leaders will still be using on Monday.

Most leadership talks send people home inspired and empty-handed. Steve Barker sends them home with a map. Twenty-four years coaching leaders, an Executive Pastor's view of mission-driven organizations, and a playbook drawn from the real crises Christian school leaders face, not theory borrowed from somewhere else.

You are not looking for a motivational speaker. You are looking for a leader who gets your world.

You know the risk of a bad keynote. The room goes quiet, the evaluations come back lukewarm, and your leaders leave with a highlight reel and nothing to do with it.

Christian school leaders sit through plenty of that. Talks built for public schools that were never designed for a mission-driven community. Sessions that teach theory to people who are drowning in practice. Motivation with no map.

Give your leaders something different. Give them a coach who has spent 20 years watching leaders succeed and derail, who has sat in the boardroom and the resignation conversation, and who can name exactly where your people are stuck and what to do about it.

That is what your room gets when you put Steve on your stage.

Steve Barker
Why Steve

Steve Barker has been in the room where it gets hard.

For 20 years Steve has sat across the table from leaders in crisis. Not as one of them, but as the person who could see what they could not.

As an Executive Pastor, he manages the organizational complexity of a church named one of the Top 100 Reproducing Churches in America by Outreach Magazine. As the founder of Stronger School, he coaches private Christian school leaders across the country through the predictable crises of their first two years and the longer work of building schools that outlast the leader who built them.

He was never a principal himself, and he does not pretend to be. His edge is different. For more than two decades in nonprofit and church leadership, he has watched leaders up close and studied what separated the ones who thrived from the ones who derailed. That vantage point is unusually wide. He was a training specialist at Netflix during the Qwikster era, sitting in on hundreds of manager conversations and taking notes on what worked and what blew up. He spent four years advising hundreds of churches alongside Tony Morgan at The Unstuck Group. And he coaches business owners in his StrongerGRP communities today. He has sat with the board member asking hard questions, the teacher handing in her resignation, and the principal wondering if they are built for this calling, and helped each of them find a way through.

Signature Talks

Every talk sends your leaders home with a map, not a mood.

Each keynote can be delivered as a 30 to 45 minute mainstage talk or expanded into a half-day workshop. All of them are tailored to your school, your season, and your theme before Steve ever walks on stage.

01

Build a School That Runs Without You

The most dedicated principal in your network is often the biggest risk to the school. Heroic leadership got them here. It will not carry them, and it will not survive them. Steve shows leaders how to trade heroics for systems so the mission does not live or die by one exhausted person.

Your leaders will leave able to:
  • Run the ON vs. IN test on any task before it eats their week
  • Delegate in a way that actually sticks instead of boomeranging back
  • Build the handful of systems that hold the school together on their worst week

Best for: heads of school, principals, and senior leadership teams.

02

The First 24 Months: The Map No One Handed You

A new principal does not fail for lack of heart. They fail because no one mapped the ambushes that arrive like clockwork. The retention slip at month six. The burnout wall at month nine. The board moment at month fifteen. Steve names each one before it hits and hands leaders the plan to stay ahead of it.

Your leaders will leave able to:
  • Recognize the three derailer points before they become a staffing or board crisis
  • Walk into the month-fifteen board meeting with data and a forward plan instead of feelings
  • Turn a survival year into a foundation the next year is built on

Best for: new and newly placed principals, and the boards who hired them.

03

Say It Sooner: The Conversations That Keep Your Best People

Your best teacher does not quit in a moment. She quits in the six months of small conversations no one had. Steve learned this inside Netflix, watching leaders name problems while they were still small, and he has watched good Christian schools lose good people by waiting too long to be honest. This talk gives leaders the nerve, and the method, to have the caring and candid conversation now, not at the exit interview.

Your leaders will leave able to:
  • Name the conversation they have been avoiding, and see what the delay is costing
  • Set expectations up front so feedback has something to measure against
  • Deliver hard feedback that protects both the person and the school
  • Build a staff culture where honesty is normal and surprises are rare

Best for: heads of school, principals, and leadership teams responsible for staff culture and retention.

Doing, Managing, Leading: The Board Your Principal Needs

Leadership-team breakout, for events with board members in the room. Most boards drift into managing the principal instead of governing the school, and a vocal minority ends up steering decisions the silent majority never wanted. Steve walks boards through the maturity stages that move them from meddling to empowering.

Boards will leave able to:
  • Locate their board on the Doing, Managing, Leading path
  • Recognize the 13% Trap and stop letting a loud few set direction
  • Govern in a way that strengthens the principal instead of second-guessing them

Best for: board retreats, association governance tracks, and whole-school leadership summits.

What it is like to bring Steve in

Easy for you. Tailored for them.

You have enough to manage without babysitting a speaker. Steve makes the host’s job easier, not harder.

He tailors before he arrives.

A short call about your school, your season, and your theme, so the talk lands like it was built for your room. Because it was.

He brings the promo.

Title, description, and headshot, ready to go.

He is a low-drama guest.

Clear on AV, early to the room, generous with your team and your attendees.

He leaves them with next steps.

Every talk ends with something your leaders can do Monday, not just something they felt on Friday.
